Paul has been a painter for nearly forty
years working in oils and watercolors. His career began under the
purist guidance of Floyd Hackman then flourished with nationally known
artists including Betty Lou Schlemm, John Pike, Charles Movalli and has
been a protoge' of Zygmund Jankowski of Gloucester MA since 1985.
He paints a wide variety of subjects including figure and portraits,
still lifes, and landscapes. His extensive painting trips include
the Catskill Mountains in New York State and the coast of
Massachusettes. Most of the seascapes and dock scenes were
painted in the Glouccester and Rockport areas of MA. In the past
years he concentrates on the lush countryside and towns of his beloved
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Even though he is a "painterly painter" from his experience on
location, he is devoting more time to his barn studio located on his
farmette. His work in the studio has produced larger works and
affords him the time to study and paint whatever his mood
dictates. Not wanting a strict style, he is afforded the luxury
of painting how he feels at the time.
Over the years he has been collected by both corporate and private
patrons.
He is a past board member of the Lancaster Art Association and an
associate member of the American Watercolor Society since 1981.
Paul
and his wife Sandy along with their Jack Russell, "Kate", enjoy
their home in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country north of
Lititz, PA.
